Sermon:No Condemnation

WHAT DOES  CONDEMNATION MEAN?Condemnation means a strong disapproval or judgment, often associated with punishment or the declaration that someone is guilty.

Condemnation refers to the judgment or sentence of guilt, punishment, or separation from God, often tied to the consequences of sin.

SPIRITUAL IMPLICATIONS OF CONDEMNATION

•Separation from God: Condemnation represents a state of being separated from God's presence, which is often seen as the ultimate consequence of sin. This separation can cause spiritual death, as a person is cut off from the source of life and love, which is God.

•Guilt and Shame: Condemnation is deeply connected with feelings of guilt and shame, where an individual may feel undeserving of God’s grace or distant from divine forgiveness. This emotional burden can impair spiritual well-being and hinder a person’s ability to experience peace and reconciliation with God.

•Spiritual Death: In Christianity, condemnation due to sin leads to spiritual death, the absence of eternal life with God. This is seen as the consequence of living apart from God's will and choosing a path of sin.

•Judgment and Punishment: Condemnation implies a divine judgment, where actions that go against God's moral law are met with punishment. This punishment may not always be physical but can also be spiritual, affecting a person's relationship with God, peace, and ultimate destiny.

•Eternal Consequences: In Christianity, condemnation is not only a present judgment but has eternal consequences. Those who are condemned without repentance or reconciliation through Christ face eternal separation from God, which is often referred to as hell.

•Hope of Redemption: Despite the severe implications of condemnation, grace offers a path to forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ, thus lifting the condemnation and restoring one's relationship with God.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT CONDEMNATION

•Cities can be condemed to destruction because of their ungoldy way.

-2 Peter 2:6,"And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly. "

•Grumbling against one another can led to condemnation.

-James 5:9,"Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned..."

•Believers are encouraged to speak sound speech that cannot be condemned.

-Titus 2:8,"Sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you."

•A divisive person is self-condemned.

-Titus 3:10-11,"Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned."

•When we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined to avoid condemnation with the world.

-1 Corinthians 11:32,"But when we are judged,we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world."

•By your words, you will be justified or condemned.

-Matthew 12:37,"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

•God is able to defend His people against condemnation, ensuring their justification

-Isaiah 50:9,"Surely the Lord God will help me;who is he who will condemn me?

•Those who do not believe in God are already condemned.

-John 3:18,"But he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God."

•Judging others leads to self-condemnation.

-Romans 2:1,"Therefore you are inexcusable,O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself.."

•Belief leads to salvation, while disbelief results in condemnation.

-Mark 16:16,"He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned."

•Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.

-Psalm 34:21," Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.

•Jesus Christ did not come into the world to condemn the world but that the world might be saved through Him.

-John 3:17,"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

•Our heart can condemns us.

-1 John 3:20,"For if our heart condemns us,God is greater than our heart, and knows all things."

HOW DOES CONDEMNATION AFFECT A BELIEVER'S RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND OTHERS?

For a believer, condemnation affects both their relationship with God and with others in profound ways:

□Impact on the Relationship with God.

◇Separation from God:Sin causes spiritual death and separation from God's holiness. Persistent unconfessed sin can create a sense of alienation or a disrupted relationship with God, as sin hinders communion with Him.

-Isaiah 59:2,"But your iniquities have separated you from your God;and your sins have hidden His face from you,so that He will not hear."

◇Loss of Fellowship:When a believer is living in sin, they may experience a loss of the deep, intimate fellowship that comes with walking in the Spirit. Unconfessed sin grieves the Holy Spirit , making the believer feel distant or disconnected from God.

-Ephesians 4:30,"And do not grieve the Holy spirit of God,by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

◇Condemnation and Conviction:Sin can lead to feelings of guilt or shame, which the enemy may use to make the believer feel condemned or unworthy. The Holy Spirit's conviction point believers to repentance and restoration rather than condemnation.

-John 16:8,"And when He has come,He will convict the world of sin.."

□Impact on Relationships with Others.

◇Broken Relationships:Sin can create barriers in interpersonal relationships. When believers harbor sin, especially unforgiveness or bitterness, it can cause division and hinder reconciliation with others.

-Matthew 5:23-24,"Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way.First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. "

◇Influence on Testimony:A believer's sin may also damage their witness to others. The testimony of a believer who is living in unrepentant sin may lead others to question the reality of God's transformative power.

◇Restoration through Forgiveness:Sin affects a believer’s relationships with others. The believer is called to forgive others as God has forgiven them, which restores unity and love within the body of Christ.

-Ephesians 4:32,"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

WHAT DOES NO CONDEMNATION MEAN?

No condemnation refers to the state of being free from guilt or punishment, particularly in a spiritual sense.

It is the freedom from guilt, shame, and eternal punishment through Jesus Christ.

No condemnation means that believers are declared righteous by God,not because of their own works but because of Christ's finished work on the cross.

No condemnation means that there is no judgment or accusation against those who are in Christ Jesus.

Christians believe they are not condemned due to their faith in Jesus Christ, who offers forgiveness and salvation. This belief rests on the idea that through Christ's sacrifice, believers are justified and receive grace, escaping the consequences of sin.

Believers are free from God's condemnation because Jesus took the punishment for our sins on the cross, and by placing our faith in Him, we receive His righteousness and are declared righteous by God. As a result, we are free from the fear of condemnation and can live confidently in our relationship with God, knowing that we are fully accepted and loved by Him.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT NO CONDEMNATION

•The Lord will not leave the righteous in condemnation when he is Judged.God's protection is over the righteous, they will not be condemned.

-Psalm 37:33: "The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged."

•Those who trust in God will be saved from condemnation.None of those who trust in the Lord or take refuge in Him shall be condemned.

-Psalm 34:22: "The Lord redeems the soul of his servants; and none of those who trust in him shall be condemned."

•Jesus came to offer salvation rather than condemnation.

-John 3:17: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

•Believers have assurance and confidence in God's acceptance, free from self-condemnation.

-1 John 3:21: "Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God."

•Believers in Christ are free from condemnation :Believer’s faith in Jesus sets them free from the guilt and shame of their sins, and God's condemnation of them.

-Romans 8:1: "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."

LIVING IN THE TRUTH OF NO CONDEMNATION

◇God's grace:We are no longer condemned but made whole through grace.Grace is the unmerited favor of God. This grace offers us the assurance that, no matter our past mistakes, God forgives and accepts us because of His unearned love. It’s a gift that provides us with peace, knowing that God’s forgiveness is complete and unconditional.
-Ephesians 2:8-9,"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;it is the gift of God,not of works, lest anyone should boast.

◇Accepting God’s forgivenesÅ›:Accepting God's forgiveness involves trust in His character:He is merciful and His grace is enough to cover every transgression. Once we accept it, we can walk confidently without the burden of guilt or shame.
-John 1:9," if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

◇Renewing our minds by aligning our Thoughts with God's Truth.
This transformation happens as we align our thoughts with God’s truth, which is found in His word. When we meditate on God’s promises, we begin to see ourselves through His eyes—redeemed, forgiven, and free from condemnation. Renewing our minds enables us to live according to God's will, rejecting feelings of guilt and embracing our identity in Christ.
-Romans 12:2,"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

◇Empowerment by the Holy Spirit:The Holy Spirit empowers us to live victorious lives, free from guilt and shame. The Spirit helps us resist temptation, gives us peace of mind, and affirms our identity as children of God. Because of the Holy Spirit’s presence, we can walk in freedom, knowing that guilt has no hold on us, and we are empowered to live in righteousness.
-Romans 8:11,"But if the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies..."

TRIGGERS OF CONDEMNATION
These are situations, thoughts, or emotions that cause feelings of guilt, shame, or condemnation, often causing us to doubt God's forgiveness or our standing before Him.

Common triggers include:
◇Past mistakes and failures: Memories of past sins or regrets can resurface, making us feel unworthy or condemned.
◇Negative self-talk:Internal dialogue that focuses on feelings of inadequacy or failure can make us feel distant from God's grace.
◇Comparing ourselves to others:When we compare ourselves to others, we may feel inferior or unqualified, leading to condemnation.
◇Guilt from unconfessed Sin:Unaddressed sin or unresolved issues with others can create a sense of condemnation that weighs heavily on our hearts.
◇Accusations from the enemy:The enemy, accuses believers before God, reminding us of our shortcomings and sins to make us feel condemned.
-Revelation 12:10b,"For the accurser of our brethren, who accussed them before our God day and night ..."
◇External pressure or Judgment from others:When others judge or criticize us, it can feel like we are not living up to God's standards, causing condemnation to resurface.

TOOLS TO OVER CONDEMNATION

◇Remembering God’s Grace and Forgiveness:Remind yourself daily that your salvation is a gift and not based on works. God's grace is sufficient to cover your past mistakes and secure your future.
-Ephesians 2:8-9,"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;it is the gift of God,not of works, lest anyone should boast.

◇Speak God's word over your Life.
Speak God's word over your life, reminding yourself that you are free from condemnation.
-Romans 8:1,"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus."

-Romans 12:2,"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."

◇Confessing sin and accepting Forgiveness
When guilt arises, confess your sins to God, knowing that He is faithful to forgive.  Accept His forgiveness fully, without holding on to past mistakes.
-John 1:9," if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

-Romans 8:11,"But if the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies..."

◇Replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations.

-2 Corinthians 10:5b,",Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. "
